Well Water Information

Well water information and advice. If you have a private well, some of the common things you may want to look at would be:
Iron
Includes an oxidizing mineral, like a rock, that comes out of the ground. It NATURALLY oxidizes things such as iron and sulfur. Then it turns oxidized items into a sediment form, which cannot pass through its dense mineral bed. Unlike birm filters which require air injection. Or other filters which require chlorine, salt or hazardous chemicals. Such as potassium permanganate to regenerate. It is environmentally friendly and requires no additives at all. It periodically cleans itself in the middle of the night. And requires virtually no maintenance. In other words, you just "Set it and forget it". And it removes iron, sulfur, manganese, dirt, sediment, turbidity. Also removes harsh chemicals, such as chlorine. As the mineral is a catalyst, it virtually never requires removal or replacement. The average Terminox™ filter should last you 25 to 35 years. It is state of the art technology. This system is offered exclusively by WFOA. These units are most effective on a pH of 7.5 or higher. To properly size your unit you must know your flow rate and pH.
Iron Bacteria
The source of Iron Bacteria is often unknown. A simple home test can be done to Check for Iron Bacteria. Chlorination and disinfection are needed to treat Iron Bacteria problems. Sulfur- Rotten Egg Smell
Before choosing a filtration system to remove sulfur or the "rotten egg smell" from your water. You should have some basic testing done. The minimum you should test for is iron, hardness and pH levels. Knowing these levels will help determine what type of water treatment will work best for you. If it is just the bad rotten egg odor that concerns you, a chlorine injection system will work well. However, if you also have iron or manganese, you would be better advised to use our Terminox™. Filter that removes iron, sulfur, manganese, dirt, turbidity, taste and odor. Well water information and advice. We have many types of water treatment options for private wells.
