Birm Filters When we do use Birm filters our experience is that they work best at pH ranges above 8.0. At lower pH ranges other things in the water such as manganese can render them ineffective. Also in situations where iron bacteria are present they are really marginal as they do not remove chlorine like an oxidizing filter such as the Terminox™ ISM can. So if you have a Birm water filtration system and you develop a need for chlorination you now have to add another tank to remove chlorine. It is sort of pointless and overly expensive. We see a lot of companies selling this technology but not warning of these factors. Also it is our experience that our customers simply dislike air injection of any nature. It often makes the water "Spit" out of the taps and can make the water cloudy due to air build up; often for weeks at a time. While there is no harm with air being in the water, most people can't bring themselves to drink whitish or cloudy water. So while we do sell them, and at far lower prices for premium equipment than you will find else where; do yourself a favor and go with Terminox™ ISM if you can.
